Agoge Learner Guide

Welcome to Agoge Cybersecurity Labs! This platform enables you to develop skills and engage in attack and defense simulations within a secure environment. Follow the instructions provided by your instructor to access your lab. If you are given a join code, simply enter the code along with your email address (Note: You can use any email address. It’s only for locating your lab in the future). Alternatively, log in as instructed to access your lab directly.

Email Address

You can use any email address to log in to your lab. It is only used for retrieving your lab in the future.

Starting Your Lab

When you first connect, the lab environment typically needs to be initialized. You will see a notification that the lab is being built. This process usually takes a minute or two, so please be patient. Once the lab is ready, it will indicate that it’s running, and you can begin by following the on-screen instructions.

Connecting to Your Lab Servers

To access the servers in your lab, click the Connect button as per the lab instructions. You’ll likely connect using RDP (for Windows servers) or SSH (for Linux servers). Using local software on your machine is preferred, but if restrictions prevent that, a web proxy is available as a backup.

Recommended Connection Methods by Device:

Type of Laptop

Client Connection

Windows

RDP: Window —> Remote Desktop Client

SSH: Open a Powershell terminal and connect using the SSH instructions

MacBook

RDP: Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app in the App Store

SSH: Open a terminal and connect using the SSH instructions

Chromebook

RDP: Install the Remote Desktop client from Google: https://remotedesktop.google.com/

SSH: Open the Chromebook Shell using Ctrl+Alt+T

These tools may be restricted

If your device or network restricts the use of these tools, you can use the Guacamole proxy. This feature allows you to open an interactive session directly in your browser, simulating RDP or SSH connections without the need for additional software.

Expiration and Lab Duration

Each lab is custom-built for you and remains accessible for the duration you need. The lab dashboard displays an expiration timer, showing when the lab will be disabled. If you require more time, please contact your instructor before the expiration.

Additionally, once the lab starts, a timer will indicate how much time remains before the servers automatically shut down (usually 2 hours). Don’t worry—your progress won’t be lost! You can restart the servers and continue where you left off. While most labs can be completed in a single 2-hour session, you have the option to extend your session as needed, up to a maximum allowed time.

Warning

Be sure to contact your instructor before the lab expiration if you need additional time. Once the lab expires, you may lose access.

Assessment

For labs that include an assessment, click the Go To Assessment button to view, answer, and submit your assignment. Be sure to read the instructions carefully to understand what is required for submission.

Feel free to reach out to your instructor if you have any questions or need assistance during your lab experience!
